Schedule of Events

Carolyn is writing and traveling more and doing fewer events. When she schedules an event, it will be posted on this page and she will also note it on her FaceBook Page.

My concept of walking meditation took a whole new direction in your Spirited Walker® classes. Thank you so much for the tools, the humor and the gentle encouragement that have expanded my awareness and my enjoyment as I walk.”

— Barbara Cohen,

    Fort Collins, CO“

“I cannot thank you enough for the feeling of hope and happiness that you gave me. Your training has meant a great deal to me and I think it has caused me to make better decisions about my life. That sounds pretty extreme, but it is really true.”

Walking Group in Arizona

For ten years, she led walks at Life Beyond Cancer retreats for cancer patients and oncology nurses at Miraval Resort in Tucson. She has been a guest presenter at Rancho la Puerto resort in Tecate, Mexico and Canyon Ranch Resort in Tucson.

CURE Magazine’s National Forums for cancer patients and survivors carried her to conferences in Dallas, San Diego, Washington DC, and Denver to deliver workshops. She has inspired listeners with keynote presentations at healing retreats, medical centers, and church gatherings.

As a resource on walking for body, mind, and spirit, she has been cited in publications including SELF Magazine, Family Circle, Woman’s Day, CURE, HEALTH, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Portland Oregonian, and Bottom Line. Her writing has appeared in Newsweek, Hemispheres, GEO, Modern Maturity, The Lutheran, and numerous newspapers.

Most recently, her philosophy of “make the choices that you can” has drawn her into an exploration of aging—a time of physical, emotional and professional changes that can bring limits and loss. Still, there are choices we can make, as Carolyn reminds readers of her blog and monthly “Not the Retiring Type” column published in The Register-Guard newspaper.

Make a Choice, Make a Difference

Fifteen years ago, during Carolyn’s treatment for breast cancer, she was filmed for a PBS television special “Living with Cancer: Finding the Strength Within.”

When an interviewer asked what she had found most difficult about living with a cancer diagnosis, Carolyn paused before responding. “The most difficult thing? I guess it’s the loss of a sense of control. Still, I try to live with intention. Even when a lot of choices seem to have been taken from me, I make the choices that I can.”

That philosophy continues to underwrite Carolyn’s approach to life, to fitness, and to the changes that accompany normal aging. It’s an attitude of empowerment that has accompanied her on walks, talks, and writing projects.

At the Golden Door resort in Escondido, CA, she has shared her approach as a featured presenter for more than a decade of Spirited Walker weeks.
